How to commission an industrial heat-pump feasibility study

A scope that produces an auditable decision rather than a sales estimate.

Set the question

Define the process boundary, target duties, production constraints and decision stage. State whether the study is screening, concept design or investment-grade engineering.

Require transparent outputs

The report should show measured data, assumptions, heat balances, source-sink pairings, performance maps, electrical demand, layouts, integration risks, capital estimate basis and sensitivity cases.

  • Named data gaps
  • Direct-recovery options
  • Heat-pump operating envelope
  • Backup and control philosophy
  • Metering and verification plan
  • Permitting and refrigerant considerations

Keep vendor input in context

Manufacturer data is valuable for a defined machine. It should not substitute for an independent plant heat balance or be presented as universal performance.
